Dear AIHM Community,

Our hearts are heavy.  All of us are grieving the unnecessary murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd.  As a healing community built on love and holistic principles, we unequivocally stand in solidarity with the Black community.  We all have the responsibility to use our voices to end racism.

We send love and support to our Black members, fellows, patients, neighbors, colleagues, friends and family.  We are here to listen and we are listening.  How can we best support you?

We also acknowledge as health care providers, like Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, countless Black people unjustly suffer unnecessary deaths from a health system rooted in social inequities, injustices and institutionalized racism.

We recognize that we need to do more to improve diversity in our organization and our community.  We acknowledge that the holistic and integrative communities have not done enough to include our Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities and will work to change that.

We are all grappling with our own participation in systemic racism, how we have personally stayed silent, and how to best educate ourselves, find practical ways to support our Black colleagues and communities, and take meaningful action as clinicians that will help to create a system based on social justice for all.

More than anything, right now, we are here to listen with open hearts and minds and stand in support of our Black, Indigenous and People of Color community, fellows, co-workers, colleagues, patients, neighbors, friends and family members.

We are committed to being part of a long-term solution and welcome ideas from our community.  On Saturday, June 13 - from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm PST we will hold the first of a series of community video calls to begin that work - to listen, hold space, share resources and discuss meaningful action that our integrative community can take to stop racism and actively support the BIPOC community.

In solidarity and with love,
